Cairo, Egypt 23 April 2018: The Executive Director of the African Energy Commission (AFREC) Mr. Atef MARZOUK undertook a visit to the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy on 23April 2018.

Mr. Marzouk, was received by the Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy H.E Dr. Mohamed Shaker, accompanied by his staff. They had a working session on energy in the continent and the development of the renewable energy especially on solar and wind electricity interconnection between the regions in the continent especially and discussed the future collaboration with AFREC. H.E Dr. Shaker, appreciated the role played by AFREC for supporting the capacities of African countries.

Dr. Shaker, hopes to receive positive reply soon form the African Union Commission on hosting the permanent secretariat of the African Standardization Electrotechnical Commission (AFSEC) in Cairo.

Mr. Marzouk, at the end of the visit, gave a Trophy to H.E Dr. Shaker, in the occasion of the celebration of the 10 years Anniversary of AFREC.
