The residential sector represents the largest part of energy consumption in Africa. This sector is divided into five main fuel sources i.e. firewood, charcoal, biomass, fossil fuels and electricity fuel consumption. AFREC is engaging experts to enlighten Member States to better these and more energy efficiency indicators.
In order to fulfil its mandates, AFREC developed a new strategy that was approved by the Specialized Technical Committee (STC) on Transport, Transcontinental and Interregional Infrastructure, Energy and Tourism (STC-TTIIET) held in Cairo, Egypt in April 2019. The new strategy is based on the following pillars: African Energy Information System (AEIS), Bioenergy program, African energy efficiency program, Oil and Gas program and the African energy sector transition program.
The AFREC Africa Energy Statistics is a comprehensive collection of statistical data based on production, consumption, imports and exports of energy resources of the African countries.
